Use caution as the outer glass door may be heavy.
Repair microwave over door lock.
Remove the grill and lay aside.
Unplug the unit and remove the inner and outer door panels to access the torsion springs that are located at the bottom front of the door.
Visually inspect your door latch assembly for any signs of cracking wear damage or discoloration.
Locate and remove the one philips screw that holds the control panel in place.
If the door hook is broken it won t relea se the door properly preventing the door from opening.
Remove two philips screws that hold the grill in place on top of the microwave.
I would not risk trying to adjust repair or bypass the switch.
It will be found behind the inner door panel.
A primary secondary and monitor switch all actuate to keep the microwave from cooking your kitchen while the door is open.
The door hook engages with the door latch to keep the door closed during operation.
If you misadjust the switch the unit may start with the door not completely sealed.
For safety disconnect your appliance from the power source before beginning.
If the door hook is broken replace it.
The reason for the interlock is to prevent operation of the microwave and the resulting generation of microwave radiation while the door is open.
Depending on the model involved the panels may be held in place with screws from the inside bottom or sides.
